  • Brandon Weeden

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Browns first-round pick Brandon Weeden is not yet signed because his agents are seeking a fully guaranteed contract.
As beat writer Mary Kay Cabot notes, it's the same reason that Browns 2011 first-round pick Phil Taylor wound up missing the first four days of last year's training camp. Players drafted late in the first round typically get the first three seasons of their four-year rookie deals guaranteed, but none or only some of the fourth. We'd still expect Weeden to be signed before August.

Kind of odd to keep Weeden out over one year's contract at a minimal price given the new rookie wage scale. If Weeden is the future of the team, which the Browns made clear he is, then just pay the guy his money. I didn't like the Weeden pick and thought the team could've gotten some additional talent for Colt, but Weeden now needs to be ready to go game 1.

I can't wait to see how the former Yankee fares in the NFL.

Not sure if Weeden is good or not myself, but I do believe Trent Richardson is top 5 current RB's in NFL.
