No one has ever talked about Carroll being an All Star this much since little league.

His mom just logged on and found out someone posted he deserved to be an All Star and even she laughed.

It's cool, Dodgers got their 3rd man in already. 4 players on a last place team would be ridiculous

Carroll's had a better year than Derek Jeter, and he's an All-Star.

          That is all.

You don't see the difference between Derek Jeter and Carroll? And no, he really isn't. Just like Theriot, kind of all the same years.

The All-Star game isn't about what you've done in your career. It's about what you've done THIS YEAR. And THIS YEAR, Carroll is better than Jeter, as evidenced by the fact that his OPS is almost 100 points higher than Jeter's.

Says You. No where does it say it is just about this year. I think if you asked most fans people would rather see Jeter, Ichrio, Hanley and Pujols, then guys who are having a decent years that are unkowns.
His OPS is higher, but Jeter is much better in the counting stats. Carroll is not having a better year, I would say their years are pretty equal.

                    What stats 'count' to you????

Carroll has a better average, better on-base percentage, and a better slugging percentage. Those are the most important stats out there.

No, not stats that count, counting stats. RBIs, RUNs, HRs, SB. Those are called counting stats because, well, you count them.

OK....but those stats aren't indicative of who's having a better season.

RBI/Runs/HR/SB stats are all directly effected by the team around you.

AVG/SLUG/OBP/OPS stats are directly based off how well an individual is playing.

HR and SB are effected by the team around you? Don't see that. I guess maybe have a great hitter batting behind you gets you more fastballs to hit but that is a slight advantage. And let's not forget that Carroll is batting in front of Either and Kemp, two of the best hitters in the first half of the year.

I agree those are more telling of the year someone is having, but when Rollins, and Hanley counting stats are so much better, it clearly takes away the slight advantage the Carroll is having in OPS

With Jeter the advantage makse up the difference in OPS.

Is Jeter 100% have a better year then Carroll? No, I would say they are having about an equal. But clearly Hanley and Rollins are.

Derek Jeter has batted in the 1-2 spot a total of 280 times... Jamey Carroll has batted in the 1-2 spot 185 times.

Absolutely HR/SB are effected by the team around you, especially when the team around you is the Yankees. You'll get better looks at SB's if there's better hitters always behind you because the pitcher is gonna be more focused on the hitter opposed to you.

Same goes with HR's....when you're in a lineup like the Yankees, Jeter is one of the few guys you should attack in that lineup. You're gonna give him pitches to hit because you wanna try to get him out as quickly as possible.
